We centralise knowledge and resources in Randburg, undertaking frequent coastal service visits. This approach ensures that the technician servicing your instrument has appropriate knowledge of the equipment he is servicing.
What calibration services do ALS offer?
Force Calibration from 0.5 N to 600 kN,
- 0.5 N to 160 N by dead weight
- 100N to 100 kN by traceable reference load cell
- Displacement from 20 to 2000mm
- Speed from 1 mm/min to 1000mm/min
- Gloss
- 2 to 100 Gloss units (GU)

What traceability is ensured?
Force : Traceable to the national standard, SANAS accredited (Lab No 827)
- Gloss : There is no international gloss standard. BYK Gardner maintains a statistical analysis of a large number of reference gloss tiles, under ISO 9001 control.
- Orange Peel : There is no international orange peel standard. BYK-Gardner maintains a statistical analysis of a large number of reference tiles under ISO 9001 control.
- Viscosity : Oils traceable to DKD (Deutsche Kalibrierdienst)
